Stephen
Covey is the motivational
author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People and cofounder of the New York Stock
Exchange listed company FranklinCovey, that
provides businesses with leadership training
and productivity tools. His books focus
on leadership, management, productivity
in the workplace, and the values of family
and a happy home life.
Stephen R. Covey was born on October 24,
1932 in Utah, USA. He studied at the University
of Utah, received a Master of Business Administration
(MBA) at the Harvard University, and a Doctorate
degree from the Brigham Young University.
Covey also worked as a professor of business
management and organizational behavior at
Brigham Young University.

integrity, starting with making and keeping

Stephen Covey was inspired by a life changing
paragraph that he read while spending time
with his family in Oahu, Hawaii. The idea
that changed his life stated "that
there is a space between any stimulus and
the response to it. The key to our growth
and happiness is how we use that space".
Covey was struck by the simplicity of the
paragraph and experienced an "inward
revolution".
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People:
Powerful Lessons in Personal Change was
first published back in 1990. The influential
best-selling book covered issues of business
and life management, encouraging proactive
improvements in both family and professional
life. Forbes business magazine called it
one of the top 10 most influential business
management books ever, Chief Executive Magazine
named it one of the two most influential
business books of the 20th Century, and
the audio version of The Seven Habits of
Highly Effective People is the best selling
nonfiction audio-book in history.

corporate training, public workshops and
assessment services. Franklin-Covey has
offices in 123 countries, with more than
110 retail stores.
Stephen Covey is happily married to his
wife Sandra of nearly 50 years. The couple
have 9 children together. In 2003 he won
the National Fatherhood Award, which Covey
said was the "most meaningful"
award he had ever received.
